This dam is a gem for the bird watchers. This dam is built over the Pushpawati River. Alpine Swift, Whistling Thrush, Quail, Purple Moorhen, and Pied Crested Cuckoo are some of the birds that can be seen making regular appearances in the vicinity of the dam.
Harishchandragad Fort is a 6th-century monument. It is located at a height of 1,424 meters above sea level. There is a beautifully carved Vishnu Temple in this fort. Devotees come from many parts of the country to pay respect to Lord Vishnu. There are also Buddhist Caves in the vicinity of Harishchandragad Fort.
The Ajoba Hill Fort is loved by adventure lovers. The weather here usually is very cool and calm and the surrounding area has a beautiful green lush green landscape. Other than trekking, people also come here for rock climbing.
It is the 17th-century fort and is located about 40 kilometers from Malshej Ghat. This place was the birthplace of the founder of the Maratha Empire, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

The nearest railway station is Kalyan. It is located only 85 km from Malshej Ghat. One can take a taxi or a bus from Kalyan to reach Malshej Ghat. You can also take a bus or a taxi directly from Mumbai, Thane, Pune, or other nearby towns.
The best time to visit Malshej Ghat
This Ghat is the best suited for a visit from October to March. Monsoons can also be preferred however it can be a little risky as the rods are slippery at this time.
